Description
The structure of the Lithuanian regulatory system for radioactive waste management is acceptable but much work remains to be completed to produce indispensable documents. The regulatory control of radioactive waste should be achieved through comprehensive, cradle-to-grave licensing system. Regulatory approach should be non prescriptive and should take into account the specific nature of nuclear facilities or small generators. It seems that Lithuania should follow in STUK footsteps because the Finish system is best for small nuclear countries. (author)
