A study on the AP600 passive residual heat removal system

Description

An experimental parametric study of heat exchanger design under nucleate pool boiling conditions has been carried out for application to the passive residual heat removal system of AP600. For various combinations of test parameters, a total of 1,652 experimental data (933 for horizontal tube and 719 for vertical tube) has been obtained. In addition, two empirical correlations for nucleate pool boiling heat transfer, one for vertical tube and the other for horizontal tube, have been derived based on the present experimental data. The agreement between the predictions of the present correlation and experimental data is between +30% and -20%
