Radial compression of picosecond electrical pulses
Description
We used 1ps, 1mJ pulses from a Nd:glass laser system to produce kilovolt electrical pulses with rise time of the order of 15ps. The pulses propagated radially between two circular discs resulting in a voltage gain of 2 at the center of the discs as compared to the circumference in qualitative agreement with calculation. Such structures can be used to produce very high gradient accelerating fields
