Description

The phosphate rich apatite deposits which are located in the high naturally radioactive areas of Araxa and Tapira in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, are presently being explored by the Brazilian fertilizer industry. This work deals with the application in Brazil of fission track registration, based on SSNTD (solid state nuclear track detectors) to determine the uranium concentrations in apatite, phosphate concentrates and fertilizers.
