Isotopes and isotones (elastic and inelastic electron scattering)
Description
Isotopic and isotonic effects in electron scattering are discussed, especially in elastic electron scattering. Analysis of cross sections and cross section ratios is carried out by means of the Fourier Bessel method. Typical charge distribution differences are discussed for heavy nuclei with the pairs of isotones 206Pb-204Pb, 209Bi-208Pb, and isotopes 92Zr-90Zr, 94Zr-92Zr, and for isotones and isotopes around the magic proton number 28 (Ni), with: 58Ni-56Fe, 64Zn-62Ni, 64Ni-62Ni, and 56Fe-54Fe. Muonic X-ray energies are also included in an analysis for 64Zn-62N; 58Ni-56Fe, and 56Fe-54Fe. Contributions to the cross sections due to the static multipole moments are expected for nuclei with spin i>0 in the ground state (59Co). Information obtained about isospin effects from inelastic electron scattering is also discussed for even Zn isotopes 64Zn, 66Zn, 68Zn, and 70Zn
