Decommission of the industrial uranium-graphite reactors. Processing and disposal of radioactive wastes

  • 1. FGUP NIKIEhT, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

The method is based on the principle of multilevel protection for radioactive wastes. In the reactor building of the stopped reactor radioactive wastes are surrounded by four safety barriers and accommodations filled by clayey preservatives. For radioactive graphite disposal the technology of processing and isolation by clayey preservatives was used. The technology includes the next processes: extraction, grading, breaking up, preparation of the preservative, encapsulation of the grit by preservative, laying to container, compacting, capsulation, transportation, laying to repository, backing by clayey alloy. Such system is estimated in a 100 and more years
