Study of formation and composition of ammonium uranates
Description
The formation and the composition of equilibrium hydrolytic precipitates obtained by adding NH4OH to an aqueous solution of UO2(NO3)2 have been studied by IR spectroscopy, X-ray structural analysis, and chemical analysis. In the precipitates isolated at a lower pH from the solution containing incompletely precipitated uranium, ammonia is bonded as NH4+ and NH3; the precipitates from a higher pH contain ammonia only in the form of NH4+.
