The clinical discussion of magnetic resonance hydrography in gastrointestinal neoplasms

Description
Objective: To explore the clinical value of magnetic resonance gastrointestinal hydrography (MRGIH) in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal neoplasms. Methods: Forty-five patients with gastrointestinal diseases (34 neoplasms, 11 non-neoplasms) confirmed with pathology or clinical findings were examed. Water was induced into gastrointestinal tract with different methods according to different sites or purposes. A 2D HASTE sequence was used to acquire MRGIH images in addition to routine MRI. Results: MRGIH findings were consistent with the results of surgery-pathology and endoscopy in 34 neoplasms, including gastric carcinoma in 6, gastric leiomyomotose in 1, gastrointestinal stromal tumor in 1, duodenal adenocarcinoma in 1, intestinal adenocarcinoma in 1 and colon carcinoma in 24. The sensitivity rate was 94.4%, the specificity 55.6%, accuracy 86.7%, negative predictiveness value 71.4%, and positivity predictive value 89.5%. Conclusion: MRGIH is a sensitive method in diagnosing the gastrointestinal neoplasm. With the help of MRGIH, the sensitivity and accuracy of the diagnosis of gastrointestinal neoplasms is higher.
