Description
With the technology advances of the last years, the use of equipment with emission of radiation for diagnosis has been increased. Professionals included in this routine are exposed to radiation doses and assessing the exposure of these individuals is essential for their radiation protection. Therefore, the study aims to reevaluate the dose in occupationally exposed individuals of the surgical center of Botucatu Medical School. Four-part evaluations were performed: observational, room dosimetry with equipment, dosimetry of professionals and the integrity / transmittance of PPE. The results showed that it is possible to have a control so that no professional is exposed more than is allowed. This control can be achieved through the use of the necessary PPE as well as the dosimetry of all professionals working with radiation in the operating room. In addition, practitioners should keep as far away from the radiation source as possible during procedures. We conclude that a training and dosimetry is necessary for all professionals who participate in procedures with the use of radiation. (author)
