Theoretical calculation method for reference filtered X-radiation spectra

  • 1. South-West Radioactive Metrology Department of nuclear Industry, Chengdu (China)

Description

Our Country carried out the 'GB/T12162-2000-X and gamma reference radiation for calibrating dosemeters and dose-rate meters and for determining their response as a function of photon energy '. Which provides four series of reference filtered x-radiations and namely wide, narrow, low and high series according to different calibrated objects and different applications. And we usually use the narrow spectrum which has the smallest resolution to definite the energy response, and also its spectral characteristics including the average energy and resolution must be met the requirements of the standard. Therefore, GB/T12162.1 provides a series of theoretical reference spectra over 8-250 keV but did not provide a theoretical calculation method. In order to provide the theoretical calculations, this work established a theoretical model through researching, designed the computer program, calculated the corresponding spectral radiation characteristics and provided the theoretical spectrum. Which is also Compared with the standard reference spectra and the results show that the calculated value are basically consistent with the national standards within the uncertainties. (authors)
