X-ray tube for X-ray spectroscopic analysis
Description
This invention has to do with the increase of the detection sensivity of normal X-ray tubes used for X-ray spectroscopic analysis. It guarantees the applicability of ultrathin beryllium windows for the detection of light elements with an atomic number Z >= 7 as well as for the analysis of the lightest elements (5 <= Z < 7) in sufficient low concentrations. The outlet port of the X-ray tube is closed with a beryllium window (thickness less than 125 μm) which is covered additionally with a vacuum seal against the atmosphere pressure outside the tube. A vacuum flange makes it possible to evacuate the space between window and seal. Ultrathin beryllium windows allow the detection also of boron and carbon with concentrations less than 1%
