Precise measurement of gamma-ray emission probabilities for 171Er

  • 1. Nagoya Univ., Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya, Aichi (Japan)

Description

A complete decay scheme for 171Er (β decay to 171Tm, T(1/2)=7.516 h) and its probability values for gamma-ray emissions are proposed. Precise emission probability of five gamma-rays at 111.6, 116.7, 124.0, 295.9, and 308.3 keV have been measured using 4πβ proportional counter with a high-purity Ge detector and 4πβ-γ coincidence technique. For other γ-rays of lower emission rate, relative emission spectra obtained from a high-disintegration rate source were utilized. Moreover, the reported internal conversion coefficient and the measured β-branching ratio decaying to a 5.0 keV-level of 171Tm were used to complete the final decay scheme which includes 63 gamma-ray emissions. The results were compared to the published tables of isotopes with some discussion. (Ohno, S.)
