FBR steam generator development

Description
Steam Generator (SG) is one of the important components of a fast reactor plant. It houses both water at high pressure and sodium at low pressure separated by a tube wall. Any damage to this barrier results in water reacting with sodium resulting in damage to the SG and this would affect the plant availability. It is therefore, necessary to ensure adequate quality assurance in design, fabrication and operation. The SG operating conditions should be such as to ensure stable flows devoid of any thermal hydraulic instability. Also sensors for early detection of Hydrogen in sodium are needed for detecting a water leak into sodium and take preventive measures to minimize damage. This paper presents the work carried out in this direction. (author)
