Synthesis and characterization of Nb/sub 2/Se/sub 9/ single crystals grown in molten solution

  • 1. Institut de Physique Appliquee, EPFL, PHB-Ecublens CH-1015 Lausanne (Switzerland)

Description

Nb/sub 2/Se/sub 9/ single crystals were grown from the liquid solution of niobium in selenium. The crystals have been characterized by X-ray diffraction. Resistivity measurements in the temperature range 200 < T < 500 K revealed a semiconducting behaviour with an activation energy of 0.72 eV. The resistivity at room temperature is about 3 . 10/sup 5/ Ωcm
