Radiation arizing during charge exchange of heavy particles in substance

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR). Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

In the course of charged particle transition through solid and gaseous media as a result of the process of multiple capture and loss of electron in the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation a wide peak corresponding to ion charge exchange should appear. In case of a solid target it lies in the lisible region of the spectrum and in case of gas target - in the SHF range. For spectrum calculations formulas of classical electrodynamics have been used. Calculations are performed for proton of 10-500 keV energies in solid and gas targets (Z=7). The calculation results have shown that radiation spectrum maximum corresponds to ν=νsub(p)/((1/nσsub(l))+(1/nσsub(c))) frequency, where ν=proton velocity, n-substance atom concentration, σsub(l)-loss cross section, while σsub(c)-electron capture cross section
