Description

Cu3As-alloy was developed as a target material for the routine production of 75Br and 77Br via the 75As(3He,3n)75Br and 75As(α,2n)77Br reactions, respectively. High-current tests showed that the optimum arsenic content in the alloy lies between 29 and 31%. The target can withstand power densities of up to 2100 W cm-2. Target systems for external and internal irradiations are described. Radiobromine is separated from the irradiated material in a no-carrier added form by dry distillation at 9500C. The radiochemical yield of the distillation process is >90%. (author)
