Description
A mean field type theory is developed for the insulating RVB state and high temperature superconductivity in doped La2CuO4 and other high-Tc oxides. The Tc as a function of the doping parameter γ drops sharply around t/U ∼ γ. The zero temperature gap versus Tc relation depends sensitively on the choice of the parameters. Gutzwiller projection, supression of Tc by phase fluctuations for small γ and screening effects are discussed
