Dealing with phenomenological uncertainties in PRAs for risk-informed decisions

Description

This paper presents a systematic framework for assessing the plant-specific importance of severe accident phenomenological issues and their associated state-of-knowledge uncertainties for risk-informed decisions. Risk importance ranking of the various phenomenological issues that are considered in a plant PRA (Probabilistic Risk Assessment) model is also discussed. Such risk importance measures for phenomenological issues can be helpful for developing research priorities to reduce the overall model uncertainty. (author)
