Description
Drinking water demand is met by the municipalities through the establishment of treatment plants for purification and filtration of raw water obtained from the river nile or deep wells. The rapid growth of population and increased per capita consumption together the tremendous urban growth and population reallocation plans, increased the demand for patable water. Historical development of potable water consumption is reviewed. Forecast of future demand and the expected deficit is presented. Finally, the role of nuclear seawater desalination in meeting part of the d deficit is discussed.8 tab
