Unitary multiperipheral model with diffractive production

A unitary model of multiparticle amplitudes with multiperipheral and diffractive production mechanisms is presented. The model has a bootstrap solution for the elastic amplitude of the form ${(J-1)+{[{(J-1)}^2-R_{0}t]}^{\frac{1}{2}}}^{-1}$, leading to constant total cross sections at high energies. Inelastic cross sections and multiplicity distributions may be predicted in qualitative agreement with experiment.
