Fuel performance assessment strategy in CANDU1 reactors

Description
To address regulatory requirements, some Canadian CANDU utilities have developed and implemented a Fuel and Fuel Channel (FFC) program3. The FFC program provides an on-going process that integrates fuel and fuel channel inspections, hot cell examinations, research results, operating conditions and safety analysis. An expert assessment integrates information from all these sources and focuses on identifying any adverse trends or patterns. This paper addresses one of the requirements for integrated assessment of fuel and fuel related data, to provide a strategy for the systematic monitoring and evaluation of CANDU fuel bundles, fuel related data and station operations data and their compliance with fuel design requirements and fuel operational requirements
