Tectonomagmatic evolution of the Proterozoic Awasib Mountain terrain, southern Namibia

Creators

  • 1. Geological Survey of Namibia, Windhoek (Namibia)

Description

The middle to late Proterozoic Awasib Mountain terrain straddles the boundary between Rehoboth and Gordonia subprovinces and is made up of two major crustal components, the older of which is correlated with the Namaqualand Metamorphic Complex, and the younger with the Sinclair Sequence. The early-stage crust and the late-stage crust of the Awasib Mountain terrain are discussed. Crustal evolution of the Awasib Mountain terrain took place in two major tectonomagmatic events. 11 refs., 3 figs
