Regression of pulmonary metastases during radiation to a hypernephroma: immunity and cancer

Description
The case presented here appears to be unique because during a preoperative course of radiation therapy to the hypernephroma, the pulmonary metastases showed radiographic evidence of progressive, spontaneous clearing with complete disappearance during 4 weeks of treatment. A brief review of the literature regarding spontaneous regression of pulmonary metastasis is undertaken, with attention to endocrine and immunologic theories.
