Hydrocarbon abundances in the Jovian atmosphere
Description
Recent measurements of low La brightness imply vigorous mizing near the turbopause, approximately four orders of magnitude greater than derived for the lower stratosphere from NH3 photochemistry and the ultraviolet albedo. Theoretical models of the hydrocarbon photochemistry in the Jovian atmosphere with a height-dependent eddy diffusion coefficient in accord with these constraints predict observable amounts of C2H2.
