Ba[Co(NCS)4].7H2O, Mr=554.7, tetragonal, Ianti 4, a=18.950(4), c=10.361(3) A, V=3721(2) A3, Z=8, Dx=1.980 g cm-3, Mo Kα, λ=0.71069 A, μ=34.6 cm-1, F(000)=2152, T=295 K, final R=0.040 for 1257 observed reflections. Isostructural with Ba[Zn(NCS)4].7H2O. Two independent tetrahedral [Co(NCS)4]2- anions are packed in chains parallel to c, and are liked via O-H...S-type hydrogen bonds with chains of edge-sharing BaS(H2O)9 polyhedra. (orig.)
