Description

Initial-energy discrimination in magnetic sector field mass spectrometers may influence the determination of relative ionization cross-sections and of reaction constants of ion-molecule reactions by the Talrose-method. However, it is possible to account for the discrimination effect and to apply adequate corrections. Relative ionization cross-sections of Ar2+ and Ar3+ for 100-eV electrons obtained in this way differ considerably from values found in the literature. The reaction constants k of three basic ion-molecule reactions were re-determined by application of the Talrose-method. (Auth.)
