Carbon dopped sapphire shaped crystals for thermoluminescent dosemetric detectors

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)

Description

New thermoluminescent dosemeters based on profiled aluminium oxide single crystals doped with carbon are developed. Main advantage of detectors is their high sensitivity (quantum yield per a unit of the absorbed dose) exceeding the analogous parameter of detectors, based on LiF:Mg, Ti, 40-60 times. Important are such properties as multiplicity of utilization (less than 500 times), mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance, semitransparency for light quanta, high efficiency and economy of production
