Application of the gamma function for the calculation of effective renal plasma flow by [131I]hippuran clearance
Description
A simplified technique based on the gamma function was developed to determine the effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) by [131I]hippuran clearance. The method requires only one blood sample in addition to standard renography and the calculations can be performed on a small computer. A close correlation was found between the ERPF values obtained by the application of the gamma function and the values yielded by the conventional bi-exponential approach. The present method is well suited for clinical routine use in connection with standard renography. (Auth.)
