Experimental base for nuclear power
Description
The LR-0 experimental light-water zero-power reactor is briefly described. Consisting of an aluminium vessel surrounded by concrete shielding, the reactor can accommodate standard WWER-1000 and WWER-440 fuel assemblies. Experiments in the following fields were performed on the facility: compact spent fuel storage, use of nuclear fuel containing burnable absorbers, reactor space kinetics (neutron detector response due to reactivity perturbation), and evaluation of the radiation embrittlement of the reactor vessel.
