Generalized Wiener filtering in conventional radiology

  • 1. Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto, Canada
  • 2. Toronto Univ., Ontario (Canada). Dept. of Electrical Engineering

Description

A linear model of the radiologic process is introduced. Then, a family of filters for the digital restoration of radiographs is presented. Depth information is obtained by a combination of the optimal, in the minimum mean square error sense, filter and the inverse filter by treating the contribution of the other layers of the exposed object as additive noise. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated with simulated radiographs. (Auth.)
