Systems to convert CT or NMR images in voxel's models for simulation of oncological treatment via MCNP code

Description

The present article presents a methodology to convert CT or NMR images in voxel's models, so that it can be applied in simulations of nuclear particle transport on MCNP code. The computation system was developed and it is used in the NRI (Nucleo de Radiacoes Ionizantes, CCTN/UFMG) for modeling brachytherapy and teletherapy on chest, pelvis, column, head and neck cancer, among others, making easy to produce personal voxel models for simulating radiotherapy planning. Herein, the system is described and, as a example, a anthropomorphic and anthropometric model is generated from a set of radiological image, whose its data bank of tissues is previous elaborated.
