Problems in study of oxide catalysts by oxygen isotope exchange

  • 1. Columbia Univ., New York (USA). Dept. of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry

Description

Investigations of oxide-type oxidation catalysts by reactions of oxygen isotope exchange are overviewed. Several examples of the difficulty in using oxygen exchange for the prediction of properties of oxide catalysts are given. Finally, the problem of the role of lattice oxygen in selective and complete oxidation of propylene over binary oxide catalists is discussed. (author) 10 refs
