Time-of-flight spectrometer for heavy ions
Description
A heavy-ion time-of-flight spectrometer had been constructed and operated successfully in our experiments. The trigger detector consisted of a thin plastic scintillator foil located at the focus of a parabolic mirror which was coupled to a fast photomultiplier with high light collection efficiency. The time resolution obtained for the system was around 500 ps. The mass resolution for the A = 12 elastically scattered 12C line was approx.0.3
