Studies on n-dodecane recovery from waste alternate purex solvent (36%TiAP/n-dodecane) by urea-adduct method
- 1. Process Development and Equipment Section, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)
Description
Recovery of n-dodecane from a waste TiAP/n-dodecane solvent was demonstrated by urea-adduct method successfully. This process utilizes the property of urea to make adduct with straight-chain hydrocarbon in presence of activator. Results indicated almost near ideal separation of n-dodecane from the TiAP in a single process step. This process does not involve any specialty, expensive or hazardous chemicals or any specialized process equipments and it is not energy - intensive process as it is operated at ambient temperature and pressure.
