GNS infrastructure as preparation for the final repository Konrad

Industry and authorities have to deliver low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste from nuclear facilities to the final repository Konrad. For the fulfillment of the obligation of delivery preparative measures have to be performed. This is especially the implementation of an appropriate infrastructure. The conceptual planning and realization until 2019 is performed by GNS Gesellschaft fuer Nuklear-Service mbH with the project KONRAD. Based on reliable data the existing infrastructure is inspected and evaluated. Subsequently the concept for extension of the infrastructure and for the production of transportable waste packages appropriate for final disposal will be reviews and actualized. Preparations for the construction of additional central processing and storage capacities are on the way.
