Statistical analysis of the results of radiation monitoring in the vicinity of Beloyarsk NPP for several years

Description

Methods of dispersion, correlation, factor analyses and trend method have been applied to describe the radiation situation in 1969-1978 in the area of the Beloyarskaya NPP. 90Sr, 137Cs and 144Ce distribution in the snow cover and soil-vegetational objects of the environment (turf, grass vegetation, pine needles) does not Contradict the lognormal law, still seldomer the exponential law. Statistical characteristics reveal a 2 to 8-fold decrease in the radionuclide concentrations the monitored ob ects and an increase in the variation coefficient values by the end of observational period. Fresh fallout as a result of nuclear explosions in the atmosphere are disclosed, ways of artificial radionuclide migration and local manifestation in the environmental ob ects are traced. Detection of considerable abovebackground concentrations of technogenic radionuclides at the present background due to the global fallouts turns to be difficult. The annual trend of the fission prodUct concentrations is characterized by instability testifying to difficulty in observing the effect of technogenic contamination of the environment
