Description
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission introduced in 2005 regulatory standard S-294: Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) for Nuclear Power Plants requiring a Level 2 PSA that includes both internal and external events at both power and shutdown states. A footnote, regarding external events, allows the licensees, with the agreement of persons authorized by the commission, to choose an alternative analysis method to conduct the assessment. In such cases, the external event may be screened out from the PSA.
