State of the art in aerosol modelling for LMFBR safety analysis

  • 1. Kernforschungszentrum, Karlsruhe, Ger.

Description

The problems of aerosol formation, aerosol transport behavior, aerosol retention systems and (eventually) release to the environment from core disassembly accidents and other sources are of high significance in LMFBR safety. Beginning with the early models developed in the mid 60's much work has been done since to improve understanding of aerosol behavior in LMFBR containments. Present modelling theories comprise essentially the US code HAARM-2 and the German code PARDISEKO-3. The status of aerosol modelling, the verification by experimental programs and the remaining uncertainties are discussed
