XRD study of the structure of NiFe/Au and NiFe/Cu superlattices
Description
The θ-2θ XRD-profiles of NiFe/Au and NiFe/Cu multilayers are interpreted using the model of non-ideal superlattice structure based on the Monte Carlo simulation. The interplanar distances in the growth direction of multilayer constituents were determined. It was found that the very high deformation of (1 1 1)Au and (1 1 1)NiFe lattice planes (up to 3.5%), is responsible for the lack of antiferromagnetic coupling and GMR effect in NiFe/Au
