Modelling of liquid-metal ion sources
Creators

Description
Some preliminary steps are reported in the development of a computer model for liquid-metal ion source behaviour. The existing program used by Kingham and Swanson has been implemented and modified, and a term involving the internal hydrostatic pressure at the base of the liquid cone has been incorporated into the theory. The first objective is to deploy a variational method to find a better representation for the shape of an operating liquid emitter. (author)
