Structural engineering characteristics in the environment of the thorium high temperature reactor (THTR)

Description
When the construction work on the THTR 300 was commenced in May 1971 a total erection time of 61 month was planned. The actual construction period up to takeover however had lasted in February 1986 for 168 months. It is therefore no wonder that, in addition to the characteristics, such as for example pre-stressed concrete pressure vessel and wire mesh cooling tower, specific to the THRT, other special characteristics applied. There are those which in their application were technical innovations, which today already belong to 'know how', others, which resulted from changes in legislation and regulations and finally those which arose as a result of the requirements of the authorities.
