Static and dynamic modelling of isotopes in the Sarafand aquifer

Description

This report is to evaluate numerically the concentration of the contaminants and to determine a concentration map for the isotopes in the Sarafand plain in Lebanon. The Sarafand plain has the Mediterranean Sea at its boundary as well as the Mount of Lebanon, the Zahrani River and finally the Adloon Rock. This study shows the laboratory tests of the chemical composition of different wells. Two different patterns of isotopes variation exist. The first is a family of contour with a single cell up to 300 meters deep. Low concentration of isotope exists near the cretaceous boundary. At a depth of 300 m. and more, the pattern of two cellular variations of isotopes exists with high level of Deuterium near the seashore. It is recommended to repeat the calculation by taking into consideration the thermal aspect of the model and to study the chemical variations of different components in the water with time.
