Collision-induced scattering cross sections of 3-6 MeV B2 ions incident on an N2 gas target
Description
Collision-induced cross sections were measured for 3-6 MeV diatomic boron molecular ions incident on a nitrogen gas target by using a differentially pumped gas cell. The dissociation cross sections of Bq+2, q=1,2,3, were measured to be ∼ 10-15 cm2. The dissociation cross sections was measured to be lower for the higher charge state, and lower for the higher collision energy. The single-electron-loss cross section of B1+2 was measured to be of the order of ∼ 10-16 cm2, and the double-electron-loss cross section of B1+2 was measured to be of the order of ∼ 10-19 cm2 for 1.5 MeV. The single-electron-capture cross section of B2+2 was measured to be of the order of ∼ 10-20 cm2
