Safety Analysis Report for Ir-192 HDR Sealed Source

Safety evaluation to transport safely Ir-192 HDR source for RALS, which is produced at HANARO research reactor in KAERI, was carried out. The specimen of the sealed source was deformed as a little scratched in impact tests. The diameter of the sealed source was reduced as 0.01 mm in percussion test. However, the sealed source after each test would not be shattered. In heat test, the sealed source was not deformed and its surface was changed from a silver color to a brass yellow, but was not melted or dispersed. In leakage tests, which was conducted before and after each test, the leakage in the sealed sources did not happen.
