Nuclear reactor
Description
The purpose of this invention is to build a high temperature nuclear reactor with fuel elements that can be easily handled and reprocessed. The reactor core is composed of a stack of graphite hexagonal prisms pierced with holes crossing them from top to bottom in which are placed fuel balls capable of being removed from the bottom and renewed from the top whilst the reactor is working. A gas circulates through this conduit absorbing the heat released. In the centre and isolated in a tube, a control rod can be lowered. The fuel pebbles are made of pyrolytic carbon in which are embedded balls of U 235 enriched uranium or U 235 instead of Pu 239 coated with layers of pyrolytic carbon

L'objet de cette invention est de realiser un reacteur nucleaire a haute temperature dont les elements combustibles peuvent etre facilement manipules et retraites. Le coeur du reacteur est constitue d'un empilement de prismes hexagonaux en graphite troues d'orifices qui les traversent de haut en bas dans lesquels on dispose des boulets de combustible susceptibles d'etre elimines par le bas et renouveles par le haut au cours du fonctionnement du reacteur. Un gaz circule dans ce conduit et absorbe la chaleur degagee; au milieu, isole dans un tube, peut descendre une barre de commande. Les boulets de combustible sont constitues de carbure pyrolytique dans lequel sont noyees des billes d'uranium enrichi en U 235 ou en U 235 au lieu du Pu 239 enrobees de couches de carbure pyrolytiqueAdditional details
