Description
The pulsed neutron facility was proposed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute to promote nuclear data activities to support the national nuclear development program. In this regard, the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory participated in the construction of a pulsed neutron facility that consists of a 100-MeV electron linac, a neutron target room, and time-of-flight paths of at least three different lengths. We constructed the test linac based on existing equipment such as a SLAC 5045 klystron with an 80-MW modulator, two constant gradient accelerating sections, and a thermionic RF-gun. We report the design of a 100-MeV electron linac, the test results for the test linac, and the plan for a test facility for time-of-flight experiments with the pulsed neutron-beam
