Recent developments in the high velocity separators technique

  • 1. Electricite de France (EDF), 78 - Chatou (France)
  • 2. Stein Industrie, Velizy (France)

Description

The function is outlined of the centrifugal-type high velocity separator, exhibiting a high separation efficiency. Steam laden with water droplets enters the separator, water is centrifuged onto the walls to form a film, which is extracted out. The steam is shifted outwards by a helicoid motion. Two prototypes were manufactured and installed at the nuclear power plant in Bugey, France. At present, these separators are operating at many nuclear power plants in France and in Finland.
