Parametric analysis of nuclear tracks using computer based image analysis system

A computer based image analysis system set up at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in collaboration with Electronic System Division for parametric studies of nuclear tracks was used in the international image analyser intercomparison exercise'97 conducted by Atomic Energy Research Institute of Hungary. This exercise involved analysis of 7 CR-39 detectors exposed to alphas/protons. Statistical analyses of 8 track parameters were carried out for average, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis to meet the requirements of the exercise. Nearly 10,000 frames containing 6000 tracks were analysed. Paper summarizes the results and discusses the results. (author)
