Description

An experimental test facility has been constructed for medium scale soft missile impacts on concrete walls. The system, built in an underground space, has a powerful pneumatic compressor. The compressed air released from the pressure accumulator accelerates missiles with a maximum mass of 100 kg, containing optionally liquid, to velocities ranging from 80 to 200 m/s. Missile geometry and cross-sectional shape can be chosen freely. The maximum span of the target slab is 2.2 m. Impacts on force measuring plate and on concrete slabs provide data for the calibration and verification of numerical models. (authors)
