Effect of structural factors and impurities on thermally activated deformation of beryllium

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

The nature of plastic deformation of beryllium is studied in the range of temperatures from 77 to 8500K and strain rates epsilon = 10-2 to 10-5 sec-2. For investigation of processes controlling the flow rate of the elementary slip in monocrystals and in the deformation of beryllium polycrystals, the curves of the flow stress vs temperature, strain rate and impurity concentration are plotted and stress-strain and stress relaxation curves are considered. The structure of samples is studied by means of metallography, interferometry and electron microscopy. Properties of more than 100 grade mono- and polycrystals differing in contents of impurities and alloying elements, in textures, substructures, heat treatment, prior deformation, etc. are investigated.
